She is gorgeous!
Bringing back some life into this thread. No Chocolate gene. This is DUN! Been making these for over 15 years. Chick pics from left to right is a DUN Platinum then the DUN then a White Orpington. And one of the two sires pics who has the Belgium Buff Orp line that came into the states 20 years ago. Chicks hatched out this weekend and the one pullet was from last year.Back at the end of October I placed some eggs on BYC that were from my Dun/Chocolate Project. The parents are Dun/Chocolate colors coming from different lines. I wanted to see what they would produce if bred together. So this is where I would like to start the discussion on the chicks that are produced by this breeding. I know that several people purchased the eggs and I would love to see what everybody produced.
SO POST YOUR PICS HERE AND LET'S DISCUSS WHAT IS BEING PRODUCED BY THIS BREEDING!
Here are the pics of some of the babies that I got from the Dun Chocolate eggs that I have hatched so far. I have a few in the incubator right now, so I'll post those when they hatch out!
These are looking more black(but could be dark dun as well) in the beginning:

I can actually see the beautiful dun in this chick:

I'm watching these with some interest:

The Rooster of these breedings was smut black for about 5 months......then he started turning the Chocolate color that he is now:

The hens were also almost black when they were young as well.....then they turned to what they are now:

So if everybody would post pics of the chicks that have been hatched out of this breeding.....I would really appreciate it. They were listed as Project....so I would really be interested to see what is produced. I would literally be estatic if somebody produced a khacki with this breeding!
