Dun/Chocolate Orpington Babies????? Post your pics here!!!!

Of the 7 that hatched from Bev's eggs 2 were chocolate at hatching but feathered a dull black. They are about 4 1/2 months old maybe 5 and they all are black but when compared to my black JG side by side they are definitely not black but seem as if another lighter shade of black is forming and there is some brown (chocolate) feathers. The feathers are multiple shaded almost a a faint lace of sorts. I will try to get some pictures of them in the sun. I am not sure what color to actually call them at this point.

If you mix a buff in with chocolate will that cause chocolate to be stronger in the chicks at an early age or does it matter? Or will it just lighten the black?

I think you are right. I think he's a Cuckoo Chocolate (Cremesicle?) Orpington. He's looking more like his dad I think

I have some more pic here

Wow, Nice!

Do you have pics of his/her dad on here? (hen?)

I think he is a he .. we thought he was a she (you saw the picture I uploaded before of him). ... it was a tiny thing. But as he's growing, he's developing like a boy. Fight with the other black orpington (which I am almost certain is a boy) and looking more like him (as far as tail goes). I am hopping its a "hen" so I can keep her :(

Sorry, I didn't see that you wanted to see his dad's pic. I have it somewhere, will look for it. Here's couple of his latest photo

He's thirsty (In Georgia, its really hot lately) - I have a waterer outside the run also, so he can (and does) drink when super thirsty

Last but not least, with his girl friend Sarah (my son named her)

If I do decide to breed him (no I'm pretty sure its a He), I am not sure if I will ever get one like him. His mom was a Chocolate Orpington and Dad was a Chocolate Cuckoo (look just like him).
