For town regulations, you might want to call the zoning office. My town does not have specific ordinance on chickens but my zoning officer advised me that there is a noise ordinance that can render the flock illegal. So no roosters for me.

Hi, welcome. I had the same problem with my husband. I just wore him down finally. We are in Michigan and I have wanted chickens for a long time also. We built a chicken tractor but now I am not sure if it is big enough for more than 3 chickens. It is so easy to wheel it around my yard and so easy to clean up - I don't have to clean up poop!! I like the fact that they always have fresh grass to peck around in. I also let them out of the yard every day for a short time to get used to free ranging a little, but I am very worried about predators (i lost one last night). Good Luck. Keep us posted!!
