My wife Julie has chickens...seven of 'em. 3 Wyandottes, 1 Barred rock, 1 Easter egger, and 2 buff orpingtons...all standard size. She was out today and had to buy this...well actually it was given to her.

Bantam, bearded and booted D'Uccle.

She's trying to introduce it to her other full sized chickens. Julie tried to put her right in with them, but they were picking at her. I told her to put her in a cage in with them so they get used to her... not sure if this is right.

Any input?

Your idea of putting her in a cage where the others can see her but not get to her is perfect and exactly what I do .. I would caution you Quarantin e her though fro atleast a few weeks away from the other birds.. Otherwise you run the risk of infecting any of your birds if she has some hidden sickness... When you do put her with the others I would do so either at night while the others sleep or very early morning so they can be monitered.. They will peck at her and maybe chase her a bit but after afew minutes they should calm down .. Good luck
