Introducing new chickens to an existing flock

Actually I did have that issue with my hens… I got rid of the hen, Salt, who pulled out my new hens, Mira, feathers. But I do think they could’ve gotten past that, I think it’s more of get rid of the one encouraging the attacking but also no harm no foul, were they bleeding at all?

All of my chickens free range as well, they have our one acre and both my neighbors one acres (the neighbors feed them)
Thank you for sharing. I will try again. The pullets are very timid and are barely able to find their way back into the run. Maybe I will let them out while the adults stay in their run for a while.

I added a silver laced wyandotte to my flock of Dominiques after 5 days in an adjoining coop and the wyandotte attacked mine.Go figure. Some breeds are more aggressive than others.I suspect it would be difficult to add Dominiques to a flock of wyandottes

My rooster is still terrified of my hens, along with my youngers, they either run or freeze but there is never anything more then keeping them in line pecking. The rooster freezes and waits for the hen to move to walk away and the females just run. If there is any blood, scabs or irritations on their skin I would say separating them until the youngers are bigger, maybe almost the size of the hens or half their size

That's interesting. I've got a New Hampshire Red who is much more aggressive than the four Sussexes, and I'm hoping to get 3 or 4 Shetlands shortly. I'll watch out for how she behaves and have a cage ready as well as the 'look but don't touch' coop and run.
