I wanted to add more chickens to my flock, they are now 3 mos old (easter eggers). WHEN is a good time to introduce them to the 7mos old Dominiques? Also HOW is the best way? Please help!!

Introduce now but keep separate so they can see but not touch each other.

When we intro'd new girls to our flock, we cut the coop in half with chicken wire so that they were on the same roost but separate. We kept them apart until they were all the same size, then let them work it out. It was hard to watch the fighting & see the pecking order get established, but it did and now all is good.

There will be fighting. If the youngsters are MUCH smaller, you can create a safe zone that only they can reach.

Keep a close eye out for blood. Blood will incite cannibalism.

We were lucky when we introduced our new girls (teens) to our older girls (1 year old). They just ignored they younger girls, still do in fact. No fighting over food or roosting.
I just hope we're as lucky when we introduce the babies in a few weeks.

After everyone had thier wings clipped , we put all the chickens in the chicken yard . 3 roosters and not one fight , we kept our ginneas and peacock in a make shift shelter with hardware cloth and tin top for 3 weeks . We then introduced the ginneas and peacock to the flock . Instantly fights broke out the production red went on the rampage and the dommi hen , both seemed offended by the peacock . We removed the rooster and hen , put them in the shelter . Now peice reins over the chicken yard . 2 weeks ago I put my bitties I raised in the chicken yard , they were ignored by all . So far the only problem was the big production red rooster and the dommi hen . I thought his strut was silly or cute , he would duck his head and hop to the left on one foot , when he challenged another chicken . Next week we are adding 6 roien ducks to the flock . I hope this summer to get acouple of geese too . I have ten acres , plenty of room for chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks ,ginneas , doves ,At one Time I was the proud owner of ostrichs . They don't like chickens lol.
