can u take the chicks from their mother then bring them back to the flock without them being in danger? They r 3 days old and r starting to get through the fence im affraid they will get eating by some animal or get caught in fence. I had heard that the flock will kill a new bird but these r the off spring of the first flock. any help thank u

No, but you can leave the chicks with their mother and the mother will generally protect the chicks from the rest of the flock if needed.

I set up a small cage constructed of 2x4's and extra chicken wire in the coop so all the big birds could meet the babies with a safety wall in the way. My hen could hang out with her babies and all was well. About 2 weeks later, I took the cage out everyone mingled just perfectly!
    Hope everything works out!
