I got 3 chicks about two months ago. Two were pullets and one was bantam straight run...still not sure of the sex. Anyway, I have been suspecting for a few weeks that one of my pullets may be a rooster. Her cackle has changed and is very throaty and deeper. I bought a two month old easter egger pullet a few days ago and tried to introduce her to the others, but it didn't go too well. The one that I suspect is a rooster chased her around the pen pecking at her and trying to get her to submit. Will a rooster behave this way. The easter egger is very gentle and I don't want her to get hurt, so I removed her from them. I will put up some chicken wire to separate them for a few weeks and try again. Could it be that the attacker is just the #1 and establishing the pecking order with the newbie? If it is a rooster I want to give it away before they start laying...Only want them for the eggs. I appreciate the help with this one.

Posting a pic will help others identify if you have a rooster or not! I don't think you can post a pic until you have atleast 10 posts. Roos will have a little more aggresive behaviour but that doesn't always determine the sex.
