Today we had to return a roo and picked up two new girls. One is sleeping on the top roost the other in one of the nesting boxes. The one in the nesting box is the same breed as the roo. The girls have been talking at high pitch all day since we took him away, how long will this last?

who knows that lurks in the mind of chickens? I think a few days and they might get back to normal, you can probably help them forget by giving them something else to think about. Maybe a flock block, or suspended cabbage head to play with. Give them a stool or bright colored bucket and let them contemplate it's existence. Chickens are easily distracted.
