Introducing new hen to flock

If you have a wire cage, put feed & water in it with the new member, put the cage in the coop with the rest so the flock will adjust to the newbie. This way she's added & is protected from the rest. See but no touch method is what's often recommended.

What breeds is your flock? The Newbie?
How many?
Size of the coop & run?

There are 3 chickens, all 5 months old & all silkies. The coop & run are approx 5X7. I let them all free range in the yard today as their first meeting. They seemed to ignore her but when they went inside, the old girls started pecking a little bit. The new girl just let them which was sad to watch so I kept them separated so they could see each other but no more pecking.

So you are adding 1 new bird to 2 existing birds?

Pics of coop and run would help here.

Also...
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!
