Hello all,
I'm so sorry to be pestering again. Maybe I'll catch on to this chicken thing soon. So I have slowly been re-introducing the new girls after they have been in a large cage inside the coop for the last two weeks. Over the last few days I have been leaving them all out in a new area together longer and longer. Today I left them all out all day together and had no catastrophes like last time.

When I went out tonight my original birds had gone back into the coop. The two new girls were sitting outside the coop together on a bale of straw. I am way too afraid to leave them out like that. Something could easily get them. I picked them up and put them into the coop with the other birds. Do you think they'll be ok since they all were out and ok today? They all mingled and ate together very well. There was an occasional peck, but no blood baths like last time. What is everyone's opinion? Thanks!

Hello Eggstra!

Don't you worry about putting them into the coop at night with the established gals....chickens are very docile at night. They should be just fine.

I think they'll be fine, but you should still monitor the flock. I was thinking that (if you haven't already) you could throw in some extra things to keep them busy so they don't focus on who's around, rather they notice what's around. Maybe like some veggies- lettuce head, etc -- something that would keep them all busy for a while. Good luck
