I have five 11 week old ducks and three 7 week old ducks. I let them roam my backyard. And the older ducks stay together and the three younger ducks stay together. I want them to sleep in the same area but I’m worried that my older ones will pick on the younger ones at night. So right now I have them in the same area at night but separate them with a kiddie gate. I’m wondering when I can take the kiddie gate down. And let them sleep together freely

About the only way to know is to try it. Just watch for a while and see how the younger and older do together. If the older ones really start messing with the younger ones then put the gate back up. There maybe some pushing and shoving while they work out the pecking order but hopefully that will be all it is.

They will be fine...Let them out together..A bit of neck tying and chest bumps maybe or both will run from each other...:gig...They will figure it out...:frow

This is my setup for my ducks. They sleep in the playhouse at night and I put a kiddie gate in between the big duckling from the smaller ducklings. And when they fee roam my yard the older ones stick together and the younger Young’s stick together. They are never all together.pictures are above.

As time goes bye they will begin to mingle..Friendships need to be made first. Your doing great..Add more water stations too..

I actually have two hanging waterers and a swimming pool also.i also have five kids playhouses and two dog houses I converted into sleeping and laying areas for my birds. My turkeys, goslings, chickens, and ducks each have their own predator proofed playhouse to sleep in.
