Hello, got a conundrum I am hoping someone can help me with.

We keep about 15 meet birds (dual purpose breeds normally with a 4-5 month age to process currently a mix of JG, buckeyes, and breese) and a few layers. Recently we lost all but one of our layers:( While sucks she still has most her friends as we are about 3 months from the next process and they all get along great.

The problem is that I am planning on processing all but her and at the same time bringing in the new pullets I see four possible strategies but please let me know if I missed any.

Keep the jc as friend while we introduce the new flock

Keep a buckeye as we introduce the new flock

Keep a breese as we introduce the new flock

In all these scenarios I would process the next time around making the chicken around 10-12 months old.

Or do I just process as normal and introduce the new flock letting 18-20 new ones (all buckeyes this time except for replacement layers) offset the size difference of the old one.

I know this is all long winded and probably severely over thinking the whole thing lol. If I missed a any other strategy please let me know. Thank you all for your help.
