Introducing other chicks to a broody hen

Maybe someone here can help me. We bought some australorp(SP?) chicks with the intent of raising them ourselves, but a family emergency has prompted me to try and introduce them to our broody hen. The chicks are 6 days old. I waited until 10 last night to introduce them, but the hens did not appear to be asleep. Thinking maybe I had just made them stirred up a bit with my dim light, I put the chicks in anyway.

I had put them out there with her during the day for a few hours, because I read that she needed to hear peeping to think her chicks had hatched.

I got up at 6 this morning to check and all but one baby had run away from her and were huddled by themselves in a corner. She was still acting broody. Is it worth it at ALL to try again? Is this a firm rejection? One of the babies was underneath her, but she was so aggressive toward the others that when baby popped out I grabbed her too.

Should I find a chick babysitter while we are gone?
