If you see all these pics again over the next few days, I stole them to use for my hatch pics?
They all look alike anyways...

Marans: set 24, 4 clears (or couldn't see any development), 4 quit. 16 hatched!@2ndTink What was the hatch rate stats and humidity #s you ran?
That's awesome, this information is very helpful, thanks. Hopefully your little assisted one gets stronger by the day.Marans: set 24, 4 clears (or couldn't see any development), 4 quit. 16 hatched!
Humidity averaged in the low 30%'s but ranged between 28% and 37%, raised to 55% for hatching, some hatched fine some, struggled so I bumped it to 60%. Seeing the air cell development in the different eggs I think if I do this again I'd move eggs between 2 incubators so that I could have an even lower humidity option for the darkest eggs.
I needed to assist several chicks, a few in the pullet eggs were upside down in the egg. The darker pullet eggs didn't have as good of evaporation either, of the larger / lighter eggs I only had to assist 1 chick, the pullet eggs I probably assisted 4 or 5.
All are doing very well except for one that is struggling, I'm pretty sure it was one I had to assist, I've been getting some Nutridrench in it and hoping for the best.
Happy you had a good hatch.Overall, after hearing so much about Marans being hard to hatch I am very happy with my 67% hatch rate![]()

2 out of three hatched so far…I picked her up this morning to take her outside to poop, and a fluffed up chick plopped out of her wing area. Another appeared about an hour ago and I’ve got zipping going on with the last one. Also let her know she cannot "lift the lid" so this means she cannot eat, drink, or poop for the next 3 days. And no moving them around either, remind her, no wiggling.
Not a good idea to pull her off the eggs at hatch, she'll come off the nest when she needs to.2 out of three hatched so far…I picked her up this morning to take her outside to poop, and a fluffed up chick plopped out of her wing area. I’ve used an incubator several times and using a broody is soooo much more easier! No humidity checks, or temp fluctuations. And babies just seem to appear lol. (Except picking up a broody to use the bathroom..)
