It’s been a long week without Daphne. The Muscovies have been kind to Matilda, but she’s definitely missing Daphne and sad that she doesn’t have someone that speaks her language. Now, Remi’s on her way. I’ve got a spot set up for her in the barn where everyone can see her but not touch her, and I’m hoping the integration will be smooth. It’s a beautiful day, and I’m sitting with the girls while they forage and await their new sister. Pictures to follow!

She’s here! She’s beautiful! The girls are very wary, although Matilda is showing interest. The Muscovies are upset that their opinion was not taken into consideration. They voted for another Muscovy.

The lighting in the barn is terrible for pictures, but I’m currently inside having a supervised meeting between a Remi and Matilda. They are drinking together and foraging through the wood shavings together. I see zero problems between the two of them. Now, do I keep them together overnight to bond in the little safe enclosure so that Remi doesn’t feel alone? Obviously, it will take more time with the Muscovies. They are currently in the duckio doing their thing while Remi and ‘Tildy have their meet-and-greet.

If this continues the rest of the day without any problems I'd try them together overnight. My Runners are the best in the world for making newbies feel part of the clan right off, sounds to me like Matilda is going to be the same way. maybe she thinks she is looking in a mirror lol

Thank you so much for you advice! :hugsSo far, so good.I’m a little unsure as to what to do tomorrow as I work all day. I know that Matilda likes to be in the duckio during the day, but I’m leaning towards leaving her in the barn with Remi and just having the Muscovies go out for the day.

The last time i introduced new ducks, it was the middle of January, so foraging was not an option. How long should I wait before allowing Remi to go out with the others? I supervise foraging, but I wouldn’t want her to try and run away. I’m even unsure as to when she should be able to go into the duckio, mainly as it is not connected to the barn, and she would have to go over 15 feet or so of un-fenced area.
