Hello Fab Chicken folk

I'm so obsessed !!!! How did I NOT have chickens in my life until now ????

well I have 4 Hens, 3 laying, i coming off being broody and a NEW rooster and a bantum

the Hens are beating up the bantum, I think she slept under the step outside the hen house ? :-(

The Hens are all about 1 /12 - 2 Years

so is he, hes a Mid sized Guy A Black Copper Marran !!!! Yes ??? Feathered shanks

he mated instantly with the Americana, is beating up the Black star and sitting in a laying nest with the Legghorn ? A lot during the day off and on ? clucking making noise in the nest in the Hen house ???
all acting very funny :-) sitting with them alot to watch and learn.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Adding new birds to your flock can be a stressful time as they establish a new pecking order within their group. Did you just add your new roo and bantam straight into your exsisting birds? The look but don't touch method is a great way for everyone to become aquainted before actually putting them together. Here is a lovely article on this ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/introducing-new-chickens-using-the-see-but-don-t-touch-method

Wishing you the very best of luck with your flock in the future. Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Good luck with your flock and introducing. Definitely check out the link provided by Yorkshire Coop.

Chickens are sure fun to raise and it's pretty safe to say we are all obsessed with them here on BYC!

Please don't let them beat up the bantam or the rooster attack the black star. They need a wire partition to keep them away from the meanies, till they get used to having them around. They may never accept the banty - who would probably make a great house pet. You could check out the "people with house chickens," thread. Chickens, especially roosters can severely attack and even kill birds they don't like. There is never a good reason to keep a bad roo. Loads of good ones, desperate for homes.
