I have one momma (Lightbulb) with 5 two-week old chicks, and another momma (PomPom) with 1 two-day old chick (still sitting on one egg that i dont think will hatch). PomPom left the nest today to poop. PomPom and Lightbulb started fighting. How do I introduce them? When is the right time?
Thanks!

I’m guessing they might have thought the other had her babies. Give it a week and I’m GUESSING it will be a different story.

Be prepared to have two broody hens that cannot coexist. I’ve heard stories, but haven’t been lucky enough to have two broody hens.....

I had two broody hens and only introduced them to each other after both had chicks that were over 4 days old and off the nest. One hen is obviously higher on the pecking order than the other, so there are scuffles, but I haven't had any dead chicks because of the other hen killing them. Both are bantams, one a cochin and another a D'anver. The D'anver has 1 chick (standard size) and the bantam cochin has 2 (bantam size). So it might work, but you should probably wait a little longer.

Thank you. With all the other replies i was so worried it wasnt going to work. Im keeping them separate but still able to see each other. I think i’ll keep it this way until the younger babies are 1-2 weeks old.
