Introducing...

Aww they have adopted Chedder I can understand why such a cute little thing.
Which makes me wonder how come no pictures this week so far?
Just so busy! It's wildfire season, so we've been spending most of our "down time" this week prepping. A good sized fire is burning just north of us. And I'm upping my fitness game since I'm going in vacation in October. Working out 1-2 hours every day doesn't seem like that much of a time suck, but it is. It really, really is. I'll get some this afternoon, hopefully.

I heard about the fire in Nevada county. I was wondering if you were having to evacuate. Sounds like the smoke is pretty bad there. I hope it does end up coming your way.

It's about 10 miles north of here, and we've been lucky that the smoke isn't settling here. It's in a rather sparsely populated area, but I know about 300 people were evacuated. They were allowed back last night, thankfully. 5 structures were destroyed, but that could be any structure: sheds, garages, houses, etc., so I'm not sure how many houses burned down. I know at least 1 did, unfortunately.

I've been impressed that the fire departments have been throwing EVERYTHING at these fires whenever one breaks out. It's reassuring. We learned some hard lessons after the town of Paradise was destroyed. It has absolutely changed the culture up here

That is good to hear. The fires haven't seen as bad this year so far. In our area they did a bit of controlled burning which I have not really seen in previous years. Hopefully things will go better this year. I hope your family and animals stay safe.

I hope you all stay safe! My husbands old race buddy and friend was in Paradise CA when it burnt. It was funny though because the ONLY thing that wasn’t touched was his race car. The one thing he cared more about other than his wife and kids. We all still don’t know how that happened. My husband also used to be a wild fire fighter. I know from his stories and this experience with his friend, how devastating and how hard it can be. Prayers your way!

I've seen some controlled burns out here, too, and PG&E has started burying lines.

I hope y'all stay safe, too. Scarrrrryyyy.
