Hey there!!!! Congrats on your babies!!!! Our ducklings just knew what to do once we put them in their first bath. We had warm water in our bathtub and put them in their and they just did their thing! Once their oil gland starts producing, they’ll begin rubbing their heads back there and distribute the oils on their own.Hi...my name's Betty and I've been addicted to raising chickens for 5 years... Lol. Seriously... I love my chickens and more recently I have acquired 5 adult ducks over the last year. They are so awesome that I felt compelled to purchase 8 beautiful ducklings. My slight problem is I have a few question like, how will their feathers begin to oil without a their mom to initially do it for them? Not sure that's questioned correctly...any and all help is geatly appreciated. I think I'm on the right track with their care but I do habe some questions. Tysm
We gave them their first bath after a week of having them and that water was maybe 3 inches deep, so if they can stand up in it if they get tired it’s a perfect depth. No matter what their size is until they’re full-grown you want to make sure that they can stand up if they get tired and always be sure to watch them while they bathe again until they’re full grown. But they should just know, as far as my experience has been anyway.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
