Introduction and thanks

Thank you all for the wonderful thoughts and welcomes!!! These are our ladies, Alice, Olive, Cookie, and Rosie. Also shown are two of our ducklings at 11 weeks. Still not sure of gender. And I also added an older picture of our two lucky hatchlings at 6 weeks.

I had a dog like that. He killed two of my roosters. My husband put a lot of effort into training him to get along with and ignore the birds. I think old age was the greatest deterent though. Eventually I could trust him with my birds. My older birds had a good memory, they still gave warning calls when he was around.
Here he is with my yard roosters. He died last year at age 11. My other dogs have never paid attention to the chickens.

So cute. I see bulldog there. ? We have three English bulldogs. Two are older, and neither chickens or dogs mind each other. But the rescue bulldog we got about a year ago as a puppy, is special needs, has spina bifida and is diapered. But obviously he runs well. I am not sure his instincts are completely intact and he just doesn’t seem to back down when he’s excited. We have learned our lesson with him. The rooster did attack him first, but the duck was a case of excitement, the kids were playing and one had a duck and put it down….he just attacked. I was heartbroken.

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. When Dexter killed our first rooster, we didn't know it was him, because they were wandering around the yard. But I caught him in the act the second time. I felt just awful. All of our dogs are boxers. Other than my old wirehaired doxie, who died three years ago, that's the only breed we've had for more than 17 years. They are usually pretty laid back.
