Hi all.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've been raising chickens for two years, and birds in general (parakeets mainly) for 6 or so years.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Currently I have 23 chickens (10 from our original flock of 12, and 13 new to this year).
(3) What breeds do you have?
Basically eggers --- one or two of each: Marans, wyandottes, brahma, silkie (roo), cochin, barnevelders (for my kids to train), araucanas, legbar, faverolle...
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I found backyardchickens when I was researching breeds and care. I also use it constantly for info about illnesses, behavior, entertainment, etc.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. And chickens aren't really a hobby as much as they are a part of my life
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I teach preschool during the days and college (art history) at night; have cats, parakeets, fish, two kids who love to help with the chickens, and live in a somewhat crowded neighborhood of a rural town in New England.
