Hi all,
My name is Lori and I've been a member for a while, but hadn't posted yet because I didn't have any chickens (I joined early so I could lurk and learn more while reading posts). But that ended today! I got a box of 16 day-old chicks in the mail today, so I'm now an official chicken owner! I wanted chickens that were hardy (ie not easy to kill) and did well in cold weather, and ended up with 3 Buff Rocks, 3 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Austrolops, 3 Black Stars, 2 Light Brahmas, 2 Silver Lace Wyandottes, and 1 "mystery chick" that I think is a Partridge Cochin. Everyone arrived safe and they are all happily eating, drinking, running in and out from underneath their Brinsea heater, and pooping up a storm! I'm really enjoying them so far. I especially like how they just push through or go over each other to get where they want to go, rather than going around each other!!
