(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Hello all! My husband and I are so happy to be here! When we say “here”, we mean not only as members with BYC, but also “here” as finally chicken and Quail owners! A quick background for us is that my husband and I have been married for 20 years in May, and my husband is about to retire from active duty Army after 20 years as well. A lot of moving around over the years has prevented so many life goals, but now that he’s retiring in a state we don’t mind calling home, we’re finally doing the things we always wanted! Being Chicken owners is one of them! We got our Chicks three weeks ago, and, as of yesterday, we’re now Jumbo Quail owners. We’re so excited!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have 14 chickens and 3 quail.
(3) What breeds do you have? Black sex links, Easter Eggers, and one Polish.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Being self-sufficient with a food source (eggs), and taking care of little dinosaurs
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Cooking, working out, gardening, and about to pick up canning.
