Hi I just joined you guys and haven't had my chickens very long... I have 6 that are laying but not all atbthe same time or day... I have 3 leghirns, 2 reds and a black bantom... I also have 3 younger chickens that aren't old enough to lay yet. I've gotten whie brown eggs and I have ones that lay in the morning and ones that lay in the evening. I'm hoping all this is normal

Hi, welcome to BYC!

On average, it takes approximately 25 hours for an egg to be produced by a chicken so the time of day you get an egg won't always be the same. For example, if you get one at 8am one day, you probably won't get another until a bit later the next. And of course, some days you won't get one at all depending on things like breed, health, age of bird, hours of daylight, etc. We have a mixed flock of 13 and right now we get between 8 and 13 per day, it's almost always a different number every day.

Good luck with your flock...nice to have you join us!
