I live in West Central Texas. I have 8 1 1/2 year old chickens. 3 of them are RI Reds and the rest are Americana's ( well they were sold to me as Americana, I think they are an Easter Egger mix) I had a Coon ( I Think) get into my Coop 2 years ago and kill 10 chickens in 1 night, Didn't eat them, just killed them. I use to let them free range but Owls and Hawks became a problem and they would lay eggs all over the farm and I got tired of having an egg hunt everyday.
