Introduction

Hi, sorry if this isn’t right, but I’m new to the sight, and want to introduce myself, then maybe post a couple of questions on another thread.

Last spring, my husband and I surprised our 5 kids (who have never had pets but had been eyeing some chicks at a hardware store and begging) with 7 cute chicks on Easter morning. We lost one a couple months later (we were accidentally sold a Cornish hen...my kids were heartbroken...and have added 2 more). Since then, we’ve been learning as we go.

We have 1 White Leghorn, 2 Easter eggers, a Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, 2 Barred Rocks, and a Black Australorp. We’ve had so much fun learning about these guys and raising them, and my kids treat them like their babies. We’ve loved all the wonderful eggs they’ve been laying the last few months as well. Looking forward to picking the brains of you seasoned chicken folks! Thanks in advance for the advice and community!

By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes.
