Hi. I am pretty new to the website. I have looked in some of the forums and ask a few questions. I have had chickens in the past but had to sell my remaining flock after a fox outsmarted me. I have about 25 ordered from Ideal Hatchery to arrive in late May. While I’m waiting, I am going to get a coop that is more secure. I am very excited to be getting back into the chicken scene :)

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!

Foxes can be very bad predators! They will get them during the day and can climb up a run screen. You may need to cover the top of a run and not free range without supervision..or a good dog

G’Day from down under Kmaria :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group. This one in particular may be of interest to you:
Topic of the Week - Keeping the Flock Safe from Predators

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
