Have owned layer chickens for 4 years recently and meat birds when a child.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
personalities, eggs, entertainment, fertilizer for my garden, eat mosquito larva so no more mosquitoes, help turn my garden and clean it in the fall, mixing compost, creating leaf mulch, they purr when they are happy, come when they are called, are smart, they keep the squirrels away, eat mice...and more every day.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Horses, Art, Graphic Design, Building things (coops) Permaculture, Swimming
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Have chickens, cats and a horse. Graphic Designer (retired) and teacher.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Used it allot when I first got chickens when I had lots of questions and now am showing a new chicken keeper about building a coop in her garage and found a good example here so am back
