(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My husband and I started chickens in MT in 2013. We figured they were a good substitute for babies since we were only engaged at the time. We bought a house in 2017 in MN (our home state) and inherited chickens from the original owners. Each year we have added to our flock and started to incubate our own eggs this year (2019).
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We currently have 6 1 year old ducks, 20 ducklings (about 4 weeks old), 15 chickens older than 1 year, 12 about 1 year old, 8 chicks about 4 weeks old and 2 chicks less than 3 days old (our first time incubating)
(3) What breeds do you have? Ducks are white layers and rouen, and not sure of ducklings yet sonce they are hatchery mix. Chickens are golden comets, barred rock. New Hampshire reds, rhode island red, wyandotte, polish, black copper maran, leghorn, and other i have no clue....
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Farm fresh eggs and teaching my kiddos (3 under 3) the vue of hardwork.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, hunting, fishing and reading
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. SAHM of three kiddos under the age of three. I work part time doing bookkeeping for my fathers demolition company. My husband is an electrician. We have 2 dogs and are starting our adventure of a hobby farm.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
