I have kept chickens for 10 years now. I used to raise Budgies, Cockatiels, and R.osellas , thought I'd try chickens for a change and am glad I did. They are so much fun. I have a mutt and two cats that get along fine with them. The chickies free range during the day but we have many large trees that thus far have deterred the larger hawks. We do have a sharp shin hawk who has been around for about 15 years and the chickens will graze a couple feet from him while he eats a starling. It's funny to look out and see a rabbit, a rat, a few sparrows, and chicken or two all in a 3 square ft area sharing scratch. I also have a 20x30 ft Koi pond, some up to 30 years old, where they like to drink with the Koi coming to them, when they don't want to walk all of the way back to the waterers. I've subscribed to your magazine for several years and am often loaning them to neighbors just getting started with chickens or ducks and several of them get it now. I currently have orpington, australorp, americauna, delaware, maron. I get 3 new girls each year to have some young layers on hand. The older Girls just live happily in retirement like me. I hope you all enjoy chcikies like I do mine,
