Introduction

Hi Everyone,
My name is Danielle! I live in the Florida panhandle with my beautiful family. I have a wonderful husband, 2 kids, a dog, two cats, a Guinea pig, a hamster, fish, and now 4 hens!
The hens are all about 13 weeks old right now. 3 Buff Orpingtons named Gertrude, Nibbles (my son named her lol), and Princess (my daughter named her). Our little mix chick is most likely the baby of a Rhode Island Red hen and one of two mixed roosters. My sweet friend hatched them all out together for us and gifted them to us.
We've had them almost a week now.
I grew up in Okeechobee, FL and raised Rhode Island Reds and Rabbits for 4-H. This is my first time as an adult with chickens though.
I am so excited to share this experience with my kiddos.

More about us. My husband works in IT and I'm the Elementary Director for our church. I just started in August of 2019 homeschooling our 2 kiddos. Nathan is 8 and he's a hoot. Very naturally funny and just the sweetest. Catherine is 10 and she's so smart and compassionate.

I've been following this site for about a year now, and I'm so grateful all the collective knowledge and wisdom.

It will not be too much longer before you start getting eggs!

Average for all breeds is 22 weeks. Hatchery RIRs are normally sooner though.
