My name is Painter Jane....
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm new to chickens. my chicks are a month old and one week old
My Mother in law happened to bring them home for my niece for easter. (I know... I know...) and I ended up volunteering to take care of them because I've had birds my whole life and wanted some anyhow.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have four babies.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have two barn yard mixes a Rhode Island Red and a Salmon Faverolle
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I find it very very relaxing and meditative to go outside and care for and watch the little buggers.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Art is my hobby/job really. I do pet portraits and portraits mostly. If you want to see my work, check out my art instagram and my chicken instagram is where I post pictures of my babies!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I also have two 13 year old dogs. a pitbull and a boston terrier. I live with my husband, and Mother in law... (we moved in to help her after her husband died recently) temporarily my cousin and her family are staying with us. Full house! I live in Northern North Carolina. And, I'm an artist.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I just came across it researching how to take care of these guys!
