(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes , I decided with the kids home from school due to Covid, it would be fun to raise chickens, It is something I have always wanted to do. My daughter Lizzie absolutely loves the chickens. We are very new to this, have lost a few and are not exactly sure why.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 12

(3) What breeds do you have? Easter eggers, barred rock, orpingtons, speckled sussex, Java, golden sexlink,

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? watching them grow, gives the kids some chores outside the house.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? hiking, biking, camping, water sports, jogging

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband and I have been married for 24 years, we have 5 children( 2 girls and 3 boys) 20,18,15,8,5

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I was looking up some health concerns related to our chickens and found people with questions and lots of advice on this site.

Hi and welcome to the flock!

Chickens are a great family activity and I remember loving our snuggly hen as a kid. So cool that your kids get to help raise your flock!
