1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I have been raising chickens since 1996. We had 5 acres then and I had 17 chickens and 1 rooster
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We moved into our small town onto 1/3 acre and I now have 5 hens
(3) What breeds do you have? Red Sex Link, White Leghorn, Asian, Cinnamon, Black Lace Wyandott
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love their personalities. Hate it when they pick on each other. It's wonderful knowing what they eat and what goes into egg production. I love sharing eggs with my family and neighbors.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I'm a Master Gardener, I love cross-stitch, crochet and quilting. I also love reading and doing genealogy of my family.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I'm a retired court clerk with the juvenile court system, I have 6 children and 14 grandchildren. I have a cute Maltese-Shih Tzu named Mahoney. I was widowed 3 years ago.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found Backyardchickens about 12 years ago and love the resources I can find here. I actually thought my egg that looked like a walnut was unique but found that others have seen them before. So I didn't worry any more.
