Hi everybody, my name is Beverly and I am a crazy chicken lady. I have wanted pet/egg producing chickens for years but my work schedule and family obligations wouldn't allow for it. This past summer my 3 sons decided to just build me a run and a little house we bought from Amazon (mistake BTW). I then got 3 pullets in a whim - 2 adorable Polish and a Bresse my husband wanted that I knew nothing about. They didn't turn out to lap chickens, and I was bitten bad by the Chicken Math bug. So after hours of research, I picked up 1 Welsummer, 1 buff Orpington, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 Olive Egger and 2 Easter Eggers because the grandchildren need blue and green eggs and maybe even speckled ones. I am handling them regularly and obsessing over how to raise them and just generally thrilled to have them.

Some breeds tend to be more lap oriented than others. However if you work with them as tiny chicks they friendly up fast. Lock away all danger, lay down an old sheet on the living room floor and sit with the chicks on the floor. They will naturally gravitate to your lap and trains them your lap is a place of safety and comfort. Do this for 10 mins daily until they go outside and you'll have lap warmers forever.
