Thanks so muchCongratulations on you (soon-to-be) new home, Jilleen!
Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. Sorry I missed greeting you back in November. Hope the move plans are coming together for you. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!
Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like mewill never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
You'll have to come over to the Oregon thread (sorry, I don't know how to link a thread on here)! Congratulations on the upcoming move. So, we plan and plan... and life laughs and says "oh, yeah." We are finally in the process of buying a home in Oregon (like escrow stages), but it's no where near what we had "planned" on. Anyhow - Eugene, Oregon here we come! I can't wait to start our flock!!![]()
PSThanks for the advice. I added my general location![]()
PS
Holler if you have specific questions -- I was in Eugene for 10 years, put the kids through school, lived/worked/etc.....so I'll help you if I can. I'm only 50 minutes away now (up in the hills, getting snowed on!) and am still in town once a week (family, appointments, feed store trips, grocery store).
I miss Salsa dancing in SF, and then 3 a.m. "feedings" at the restaurants in the Mission area. I miss the lights and bridges and the heartbeat of the Bay Area, but it's been a trade off I could live with. I grew up in the East Bay, then moved to Marin (with some time in Sonoma County).
Your kids will learn that no soccer practice is ever cancelled due to rain -- play on, darlings!
Oh, and Willamette Street is pronounced Will-Am-Ett. (Main Street that goes thru downtown Eugene -- you don't want to sound like a total noob).
When do you move?
Awwww, shucks. Thanks! I think you'll like it here. Now, get in there, and pack up those boxes! We move the last week of March. Thanks for the pronunciation tip - I, of course, was saying in completely wrong. I am from the East Bay too! Born and raised in San Leandro. Currently in Brentwood. We CAN'T wait for our moveBUT we will miss the Bay Area too. Nothing quite like it. My husband and I both have all of our family in the Bay so we will make frequent visits, I'm sure. Thanks again for all of your Eugene tips. You are awesome!
