Thanks. I believe I might have somebody who will take him. Just need to hammer out some details with them. The girl we have for you looks much like Tiny, except she is much more white on the head, neck, and shouldersI hope you do find a home for your cockerel soon.
Looks like Tuesday he'll have a new home.Thanks. I believe I might have somebody who will take him. Just need to hammer out some details with them.
Welcome to the thread, Craig! I'm so glad to hear they are doing well for you.Long time lurker, first time poster. I went through this entire thread this winter. It really is an interesting history of how all of you discovered an understanding of this breed, and I thought it was really cool. That lead me to reach out to Kari, and that lead to this in early may.
Then that lead to getting rid of my 8 laying hens and 1 roo. I miss seeing them roaming the yard, but dont envy you fools who go outside at 10 o'clock locking chickens up.
After 3 weeks I have this.
This confident fellow is the early favorite for the breeding pen. I dont have a breeding pen yet. I have never hatched out chicks. I have a lot to learn. I think I am at 8 roos and 14 hens, which would be perfect. I suppose everything will go perfectly from here on out.
A digital camera is on my shopping list, sorry for the pic quality.
I dont know if I would say dedicated. It was a long winter, and I often get fixated on things during the long winter. Time will tell as to my dedication. Theres 22 birds and my today guess is 8 roos, exactly what I hoped, but it could change. Just 4 weeks and I am not great at sexing. Gotta start somewhere.Craig,
Welcome! I'm impressed you read through the entire thread. I've done the same thing only there was a lot less when I got started on this thread. You are one dedicated man! It looks like you've got a great group of birds to get started with. Keep us posted on them. How many do you have?
Another week or 2 and its going to be pretty obvious if you have a roo or a hen.I dont know if I would say dedicated. It was a long winter, and I often get fixated on things during the long winter.
