Iowa Blues - Breed thread and discussion

Pics
Oh Kari! I'm so sorry! I would be devastated.

I can send chicks back from this hatch if you want, or can call and see if Sandhill can add some more Iowa Blues to my order that is supposed to be coming this month.

That is a terrible thing Kari, and why I follow a policy of SSS, have to. Its a blessing that you have a remnant.

With the numbers so few its a double tragedy and why we need to get them spread around. I will have about 3 dozen Icelandic eggs in the incubator, would love to have some IBs but will be getting some chicks from Sandhill. Other then Ideal for roos Sandhill is about the only ones available this year.

Exactly, it has to be, I lost a whole flock of chickens once, plus most of my geese to two broken loose bird dogs, 4 days after I shot them in the act the owner came by and asked if I had seen them, I looked him in the face and said I'd be on the lookout for them. I still am on the watch for them, and their companions.

It has to be.

Pics, First set is of pullets, think only 2 of the 3.

2 more of the roo. I think he looks pretty good, and at least for the neck he is laced good, the back could be better. He is a decent size and is a bit of a fatty lol...he's not fat, but he feels heavy/meaty.
Lacing on the chest, not that good of a pic.

Never thought I'd say it, but I am in agreement now. We are well over a mile from any dogs who would be able do this. All of my neighbors are farmers who should know better than to let their dogs run rampant. No excuse for any of them to be on our property. If I see any back here, they will at least be going home with a limp
