Iowa Blues - Breed thread and discussion

A thought, on Karis post on the NYD hatch, a wink and a nod that 'they always come early', do you find this in the Iowa Blues?

I do see this in the Icelandics, they often hatch early, in others incubators too, not just mine.

Just curious.

The ones I've hatched were right on time, my Icelandics always hatch on day 20. Although my experience with hatching IB is only around 15, spread into 3 hatches.

Deb- Thanks for sharing your experience with the leg color. This will have to be something we keep in mind when adding in Sandhill birds to the other lines. The Standard calls for dark willow, so if there is going to be come crossing of the lines we'll need to keep an eye on it.

I've only experienced my Iowa Blues hatching on day 21. Even the eggs from Kari who's always getting them to pop early. Must be my incubator. It's always at a steady 99.5 degrees. Maybe if I had it at 100 I'd get those guys to hatch a little earlier........

I have 30 hatching since early this morning I set on a Saturday night. Good thing I guess, since they will be picked up tomorrow.

I'm off today, so I spent some time with the flock this morning.

Gosh I love your SP. I only have the one pullet in my pens, they are beautiful. Lots of birchen around here.

Thanks Deb, they seem to get better all the time. I'm really happy with this generation.
I had a bunch of picture of boys, but if you have 2 minutes, a video is worth a thousand pictures.
