Iowa Blues - Breed thread and discussion

Pics
Got my order printed of to mail in. We'll see if I can get any this year.

Hoping to pick up some from other breeders as well, this season, to expand the flock as well as raise up some of my own.

Hurley,
How is the Palmyra/Eagle area treating you and your Iowa Blues? Is that where you are still located? If it is, and you want eggs from me, my parents can bring them back the next time they come to see me. I grew up in Wind Lake and went to school in Muskego. Just let me know.

That being decided, I'll get us a domain name to park the website. :D

Will post a sister thread to this one to discuss "club business" such as discussion on the standard, thoughts on getting the club organized, requests/submissions for web content on the site?

That way it won't clog up this page's friendly banter with businessy stuff. :)

Sound good? Maybe next year once we've got things a little figured out, we can make the club more official, with officers, etc. ...unless you guys think we should do that now? I don't really care, I just want to see it become a reality and to be a part of it. :D

I drive right by you on the way home (my folks live between Churdan and Glidden Iowa, over by Carroll.)

I'll be making a trip or two out there this spring, so could even pick some up. :)

They've been surviving the winter here so far, though it's been pretty mild.
Seem to do fine here. I love those little birds.

I feel the same as you Karimw, when it comes to Ideal. How about Privett? Any opinions there?

No matter what I do right now, I do NOT have the room or need for 25 chicks of any kind. *sigh*

Probably wouldn't hurt to start thinking about club officers and all right now. If you want to get a standard set up, a club set up, and start toward APA recognition (assuming that's a goal), then I'd say go ahead with the officers.

I'm going to put an order in. Don't know if they'll be able to fill it or not. They don't carry large numbers of them, I'm told, and that's the only thing I really want in the box.

Just want to get a good number of them this summer to select from.

Oh, got the website a domain now: http://IowaBlueChickenClub.com MrHeinz's rooster is the logo right now (made one quick just to have one). Will have to work on an official ...well...everything, lol. But it's up, and somewhat functional right now.

I also put up a thread for discussing "club business", so that's there.

MrHeinz, would you like your photos posted up on the website in the photos section? I think your guys are lovely examples of the breed.

(And if you don't wish your cock bird to be up on the site as the temporary logo until we get something official, just say the word and I'll pull it. He was in a perfect pose for it.)

I'd be honored if you posted the pictures of my IB on the web site. I'm thrilled that you used my Cock bird in the logo too. Thank you.

Anytime you are coming through and want eggs or want to check out my flock, let me know.

Jim
