Iowa towns which allow chickens in town and the specifics

Hi does anyone know if you can keep chickens in Clive/Urbandale

Here is the City Code for Urbandale, I wasn't able to access it, maybe you will have better luck.

Your best bet is to contact City Hall and ask for the Zoning Administrator or talk to Animal Control, City clerk, etc.

This is from the very first post in this thread:
Urbandale, IA. Chickens must be kept at least 150 feet from any dwelling.
Clive, IA. No more than 12 chickens on lots less than 1.5 acres. Must be 150 feet from homes and 50 feet from property line.

Still, check with City Hall, things change.

thx we've had chickens for 2 years with no problems then our neighbors reported us for being in there yard when they were the ones feeding them and now we have 2 wees to get rid of them

How do you find the city ordinances? Are they on the city’s site?

Sometimes they are, sometimes you will need to call your City Clerk, City Manager or Mayor's office depending on the size of your town. Regulations may be under Zoning or Animal Control. You can also contact the Zoning Department or Animal Control directly for help.

Does anyone know Clear Lake, IA's ordnance on backyard chickens? I think they don't allow them and if not I want to present a recommendation to change the ordnance. Could use a good template for that as well.

Zearing allows chickens and ducks no limit. What concerns them is just neighbor complaints, so hopefully you got good with your neighbors.

Just wondering if anyone knows about regulations in Winterset. The city called and told me they had strict regulations, but the website says nothing, as far as I can see.
