Ok I'm loosing my mind. I have some broody hatched ducklings that are almost fully feathered and have started quacking (adult sounds). So the father of the 2 in question is black swedish/rouen 50% each. He is gorgeous with a raspy male voice. So each of these ducklings have shiny green highlights, heads, wings, randon spots on their bodies. However they quack a loud female quack. Verified by picking them up, carrying them away and letting them quack in my face. I have never seen a mature black swedish so do they just have greenish feathers or am I loosong my mind.

I will try to figure iut video tonight. So is it possible that i have loud quacking males? I've had my flock for a year now and have always been told voice sexing was your guarantee. Some breed get a sex feather some don't. Both my father drakes have sex feathers but these babies are just barely quacking and the biggest of the brood has his raspy voice but still has down on his back. They hatched May 24 so they are only 2 months old.

The former owners of this dad said his father was a black swedish and i can see the rouen patterning under his black coloring on his wings. Granted she didn't care much about them she was keeping them for a friend.
Before my drake when into eclipse his head was green except it turned purple in the right light. He is very dark. I will for sure do pictures and try video.

I just realized you fine folks don't know why I'm ruling out mama genes. I have 1 rouen, 3 Pekin, and at the time of lay had 3 runner (1 tan, 1 fawn, 1 blue) females. This drake is my only source of black feathers. That's how i know he is the dad. My other drake is a runner so I have to determine his paternal status by watching the babies stand and walk.
