We survived Irma, the eye passed right over us. We had no injuries to people or animals, the coop that Mike built withstood the 80-90 mph gusts, and the sheep hunkered in the bard all ok.

We did have a bit of roof damage on the house, and lost some siding, but the barns held strong.

The after flooding was the worst, especially for the sheep. Water is residing now and we have our power back on as of an hour go.

The dogs, cat and parrots were in the house with us an other than some stress they did great. Actually the hardest part was withholding dinner for the dogs because there was no way to take them outside to go potty for many hours.

So glad to hear you and your animals made it through. Especially if the eye past right over you! Good luck!

We were fortunate too! That was a big whopper! The flood stopped at our fence so the coops stayed dry. My DIY coop sustained ZERO damage and the bedding inside was bone dry. The chickens are still in the dog kennel in the garage but we're going to move them back out to the coop today.

Lots of shingles are currently sprayed all over our backyard and we got a leak in the ceiling in one bathroom. The screened-in patio is now an unscreened-in patio. The neighbor's tree is blocking the road (which is why the chickens are still in the garage because we spent the whole day clearing out the road), the entrance to the subdivision was flooded yesterday but it has since receded. Power still out but we were so good with energy conservation that our portable generator still has almost half a tank in it.

All in all, we're doing great! The boys are taking turns cooking - excited to take over the grill and have a chance at "playing with fire". They've made chicken wings from scratch, chicken drumsticks, pork chops, and even the good old Filipino spam and rice! Nobody is complaining about no AC and no hot water. And we have tons of supplies to last us a long time if the power doesn't come back on.

One thing I'm really thankful for is the sense of community. We haven't talked to our neighbors this much for the longest time.

We just got power back, we had no running water since the pump went off, got quite a few looks from the neighbors and traffic because we soaped up and then jumped into the pool to rinse off. Luckily we keep a few cases of bottled water on hand for these situations. The heat was bad for me, I take a medication that makes me overheat easily, so with the inside of the house being 83 degrees & humid it was a bit tough, but we managed. We also used the grill for cooking, mine has a burner on it too and was able to have my coffee made with boiled water and my french press, and cook things are they thawed.

Glad you all survived and the chickens did too!

I was just thinking earlier of making a Hurricane Aftermath thread! We've kind of evolved the Hurricane Advice thread into food and hurricanes.
