One of my pekin ducklings has a irritated eye that just showed today. Doesn't look serous, but I'll show the pics for you just so you can get a good look and see for yourself.. Well.. ish .
I keep a dish of water deep enough for them to stick their head in, but have a hard time keeping it clean.. seeing that they like to bring their food to the water :p I change the water constantly do to the little dirty buggers..

I know ducks are dirty.. But is there anyway to minimize them from dirtying their water so quickly
If not.. Anything I can do to help with the irritation in its eye

What are you using for brooding material?

Have you tried flushing out the eye with a saline solution?

I use pine shavings for bedding, small rubber tub and water feeder for their water with a wide bin underneath for the water to collect in, and a red light for heat. The brooder that we use is pretty much a large wooden crate. We made modifications to prevent them from hurting themselves from anything.

And I haven't tried flushing it yet. The irritation just started today, and I'm hoping that some fresh water and a little bit of time will help with the irritation.

But wanted to ask just incase it doesn't and I have to aid in cleaning the eye.

I would rinse or mist the eye gently with mild saline solution three or four times a day for a few days.

I would also give some poultry vitamins in their water.
