Is 2 ducks too few?

Thank you! It sounds like drakes can be pretty rough on the ladies if the ratio isn't right, like roosters. I am convinced that they definitely should NOT live with my hens if I decide to bring them home. Also sounds like if I got a few females I may have to part with one of the boys in the future... hmm... this is exactly what I needed, someone to tell me the reality of ducks not just the romanticized idea of a cute pet duck that follows me around the yard!

If you decide to get them, you could always keep a drake only flock. If there are no hens they should get along just fine. Even if you have enough hens for two they may still try to compete with each other over a favorite hen and hurt or kill her. There are always extra drake around, too.

You'll want to do some research on what kind of predators you have in your area and how best to keep them out. Enclosures aren't so much about keeping the ducks in as they are about keeping predators out.
