Put the ventilation above their heads when roosting. That's hardware cloth covering the openings. It gets down to single digits every year here and a few years it will get below zero. Not your weather I know but to give you an idea.
Chickens do handle cold well but they developed in warmer weather than you have. They do need protection from drafts in winter, yet plenty of ventilation.
