Yes they are very friendly, but i have only had muscovys and no other kind to compare them to. But i would very highly recommend them. They are friendly if you have the correct drake to female ratio. They should get along with the other ducks, but may cross breed or try to cross breed. My hens like to sit on their nests almost constantly, but that is because i have cycled through different males and they sort of mourn the loss.
They are really easy for me, it depends on your location. live in a tropical weather place with natural water and plants on my property. They also share the chickens and dogs food. I let the hens do small broods now of four or less eggs, and the babies are self sufficient in very little time. I love them for how resistent they are to illness and problems, and of course the meat and eggs. I cant think of a single negative for them.
If you start with a single male and single female, you could have a brood in no time.
