Is a Permit/Licence/Testing/etc... Required to Sell Dressed Quail ?

Ok Thanks, I may look into it and like you said I'm sure there is somekind of loophole to work around the legalities, but it isnt really a big deal, I doubt I would make a business or anything out of it, just an addition to the other birds I raise.

And I would need a permit to sell live Coturnix Quail, in Ga we only need a permit for Bobwhites as they are our local strain.

I am unsure, I am new to raising quail and I live in FL. Sorry!

Oh That was supposed to say I would'nt need a permit. Sorry lol I wasnt asking if I would need one, I know I dont for Coturnix, just Bobwhites . I just added that part in becuase you mentioned if I had the permit to sell the live quail then I should be able to get one to sell dressed quail and I was letting you know I dont need a permit for selling the live Coturnix. Bobwhites are the only ones that require a permit in Ga.

I sell the birds live if I can stir up enough interest for a "class" on how to process birds normally on Saturday morning I do a coupla examples for the students then let them try, the main thing about processing is just doing exactly the same thing your routine will get fairly quick after a really short amount of time. oh yea if some one brings the birds I sold them live so much the better kina 2 bird with one stone thingy LOL 5-10 folks is about the right number for a 'class" the tuition fee 10-15 per person .

reptile snake people need/like quail as well as Asian restaurants like the eggs good luck sometimes I sell to the restaurants sometimes just the employees that work in them

Yep, I've though about that too. I have a few snakes and I try to breed my own mice but I like to keep them out in the barn becuase they start to stink when too many are kept in the house, but they dont breed as well when its to hot or two cold outside so I'm thinking when I do get quail, I could used the eggs and/or chicks as feeders instead of trying to keep mice.

The asian markets are a good idea too. Thanks

Maybe a loophole could be like raw milk. People sell raw milk "for animal consumption only", all the time. Of course there is nothing wrong with the milk, its just not pasterized (which people could do at home if desired) and its not inspected. So I sell raw goat milk, you take it home and feed it to your cat - or drink it yourself - your choice.
You could do the same - sell the dressed quail for "raw meat diet for your dogs". Once they leave your farm with it, they can do whatever they want.

See theres loopholes for most everything. Thanks

It don,t hurt to find the statute and read it normally at the front of the document the statue is in is a list of definitions that tell you what everything means and it will normally spell out and prevent a number of loopholes that cannot be used good luck

Getting around regulations is kind of common. The local farm auction sells "hatching eggs" because folks don't want the hassle of health department inspections assocated with selling eggs for comsumption.
