Is A Plastic Coop Too Hot For Florida?

I have my eye on a coop that would be easy to put together, but the problem is, it is made from plastic. It is a snap together coop, which I could probably put together myself (neither my husband nor I are handymen!). I think I could probably move it around as well. But I am just wondering if it would be too hot for my chickens in the summer where the temps go are 100+ outside. I need something soon possibly, because we have a stray chicken in our yard (looks like a hen) and if nobody claims it, I want it. Last time we had a rooster in our yard, it lasted a couple of months as we didn't have a place for him to go into at night, and a predator killed him. I am so disappointed in the wooden coops as they are cheaply made, and the wood won't last long.

There are some excellent designs in the coop and run pages for simple and easy to build coops. Some have detailed information on how to build, such as this

I agree that the wood premade coops generally available are usually inferior. The cost of buying a quality premade is unreasonably high in most locations. An option to consider, premade storage shed come in many sizes and can be modified simply to meet the needs of a coop. The advantage to sheds is they are walk in height and easy to move around in for cleaning and maintenance.

i like the idea of a shed because you can walk in it. But I would need one with more windows in them than I had seen. I would be plenty of room and accessories could be added.

Welcome to BYC @FamilyJ !
Not sure if @Awestruck ever got the plastic coop or not...
...their other recent threads don't show much activity or responses on their part.
Maybe the tag will bring them back with answers for you.
In hot climates good deep shade and lots of ventilation are very important.
